Hi everyone. Its very close to my five years since diagnosis date. The survival rate (see previous post) varies, but studies show its 75% (mine would likely be higher due to age etc). Still I think this is a pretty big thing and I would like to raise as much money as possible for charity to celebrate.
Accordingly I reached some of the best minds I have at my disposal and came up with the concept of walking as many miles as I can in 24 hours. I will start at midnight on the 8th, and walk as much as I can until midnight at the end of the day.
Some people offered to help though, and to make it more fun, I want to get as many people to join me as possible, doing as little, or as much as they want (people with young children may only be in for an hour or so). I will then keep track of the total miles of everyone in and see if we can beat 500, which is my goal. This can be done whereever you are, London, Bristol, or even internationally, and all you have to do is set up a page, track your miles and let me know how you get on.
So you can help one of two ways. You can either sponsor me at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/marcus-evans8
or you can really get involved and start your own justgiving page, and join my team. I have three in so far, but hope I will get a lot more. All you need to do is click on my link https://www.justgiving.com/account/teams/walkingforsurvival and then click join the team. You then click, set up a new page (with my charity being bloodwise), and go to anniversary putting a page together.. You will then be able to set up your own page, and once this is done you join the team with the first link.
Its a bit fiddly, but I would love as many people to walk with me as possible to show solidarity and support.
The charity is quite a big deal, with 1 in 2/3 getting cancer in their life, and it also means a lot to me.
I have been blogging for five years and have talked to sufferers all over the world. If you are going through what I am, or have found my blog helpful or interesting, please help me. I’ve been trying to give people a resource that doesn’t exist for my condition, and now want to raise as much as I can. Please consider helping as much or as little as you can :).
Finally, and what may be a kicker for some of you. If we reach £5000 as a group I will get a body wax. I intend to get my torso and delicate’s waxed, and tastefully get it filmed for the blog. I’m wincing at the thought of it, but its for a good cause and I am willing to go the extra mile if you are :). (I put this in bold as I think this will be what gets some people to donate)
So all in all, please do just help. I would love you to join me, but if you have something on or don’t want to, please donate and show your support.
Thank you all.
As always thank you for listening!
Why not walk the Santiago de Compostela? Family can visit you with supplies. You can break it up.

It does sound good, but if I do it closer to home, I can get more people to come along 🙂
