Howdy y’all. I hope you are well and life is good. I’ve been a bit quiet for the last few weeks after my fourth bout of chemo. This has probably been welcomed people who look at my posts. It also means…. Things are going quite well for the moment.

The reduced dose was much more easly tolerated. I’m at my Nadir now (low point for bloods after chemo) and feel pretty good. No bad side effects so far, other than the usual queasiness after the dose itself.

My bloods themselves are great. Haemoglobin is at 14.6 (normal human is 12-15) so is actually great, and better than it has been for the last eight years. My platelets were at a high of 290 (normal is 150-400) and has only dropped due to the chemo and not too low.

So all in all the chemo has pretty much worked. The only thing we have to do now is navigate the last two treatments, any side effects from these, and hope the radiation and treatment doesn’t cause any secondary cancer. I’ve been pretty thoroughly scanned, so that’s a small concern.

I also need to find out a bit more about iron now we are coming to the business end. (I have a count of 3100… it should be about 200). It looks like I’ll have to give a lot of blood donations (which can’t be used) to reduce the amount in my blood. This sounds like it could take months and be a lot of donations as I had 31 bags in total going in.

I’ll chat to the doctor’s tomorrow. Still at the moment it’s probably wise not to cross me. Remember, I am Iron Man.

Other than that rather bad joke I am nearly at the end of the one mile a day challenge. The hardest day was when I had chemo itself. That was pretty sick making. Five or so days after that until now I have quite enjoyed it. I feel fitter for it anyway. The next chemo falls on the 31st. (Unlucky to have two in a calendar month) so that will be the hard one.

For those of you who don’t know the walking is part of a greater effort to raise money for blood cancer research. Please please donate at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Chemowalk . It’s for a great cause and the credit card is only a reach away…

So only two more months to go until this is all over. (Hopefully and bar the bleedings). I have been thinking about going back to work,.and what my life looks like after all this. That’s going to be the next blog. One consideration is how long I am immuno suppressed for. That will factor into going back to the office again which is in London.

Anyway, have a lovely evening (unless you are reading this at another time, on which case have a lovely morning or afternoon! :).
